As this was the last, summary programme in the frames of the project, together with the guests we tried to look through the relations of EU and Georgia, their cooperation, the success achieved on this way and think together with the listerers about future prospects.

The invited guests talked and discussed the areas and  fields, which have especially been reflected in co-operation with the European Union. They  talked about what kind of partner Georgia is for EU as a political and economic, as in terms of human rights protection.

The main topics of the programme were: Armenia-EU Collaboration, “Eastern Partnership” recent developments, European Values and standards, the style of European living, supplementary materials.

“Development of  non-governmental sector and local government” – is the name of EU programme and euro 1 120 000 is the grant amount released in the frames of this programme.

Among the other projects provided by the programme there are also other projects, which pay attention to the development of non-governmental sector and local government and their cooperation

Listeners had opportunity to get to know with two projects like this.

In the transmission also took part, Helga Pender, EU delegation to Georgia, Project manager of civil society development and democracy, who talked about meaning and aims of the  programme “development of non-governmental sector and local government”

The invited guests talked about what opportunities does Georgian self-government has today and how they imagine its iprovement, is the society informed about local government functions, what problems they had to solve on the way of implementation, in what the collaboration is expresed specificly between local government and non-governmental sector?

Simon Gabrichidze – Non-governmental organization “Welfare Foundation”, projects manager.

The invited guests listed the specific directions of ongoing health care reforms, talked about privatization hospital sector and improvement of medical quality, primary health care system, health insurance and pharmaceutical sector.

The invited guests talked about the issues related to effective control mechanism of quality and Patient Safety on medicines and servcice provided in medical institutions, as well as about the issue of access to treatment for public, state health care expenditures, about the importance of involvement of non-governmental sector in reform process.

Organization “Welfare Foundation”, has learned the changes implemented as a result of the reforms in the frames of European Union and has prepared appropriate conclusion. Simon Gabrichidze has introduced to the audience the results of these changes and his considerations about ongoing reforms, also has talked about the exsited challenges and problems in the health sector.

Tea Siprashvili –  Deputy Head of VET Development Department at The Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia.

For supporting Vocational Education and Training field EU has released the first  tranche of 6 million dollars in the budget of Georgia.

Prior, Georgian Government has met all those preconditions, that one was in charge of development this field: participating state institutions, social partners and representatives of  non-state subjects regional council of vocational education and training was created and its national medium-term strategy has been approved (for 2009-2012 years), consultations with civil society has been started and report describing analysis of the situation in the field of vocational education and training was released.

What should vocational education serve and why supporting it is important for the country, how this field of education is priority in Georgia nowadays, whether Georgian citizens know about the initiatives, that are implemented for the purpose of educational development, or not – these subjects were discussed by the invited guests – Giorgi Nanobashvili, UNDP Georgia economic team leader and Revaz Sakvarelidze, UNDP Georgia vocational education project manager. They introduced to the audience the project financially supported by EU implemented in Shida Kartli by UNDP. In the frames of this project, centre of vocational education and trainings has been created.

In the program also took part Tea Siprashvili, Deputy Head of VET Development Department at The Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia , who has talked about state policy in terms of vocational education. She introduced to the audience state program “Vocational education for employment”.
