Creating Common Aviation Area between the EU and Georgia

As mentioned in the programme, Georgia was one of the first countries from the Eastern neighborhood, who signed the agreement about a horizontal air services with EU, in 2006
May 5, contract for air service field was signed between EU and Georgia, in Tbilisi. According to this contract, integrating and opening of aviation markets will take place, cooperation will be strengthened and new possibilities will be created for the costumers and air operators.
The invited guest explained what is “Common airspace” and what does joining this space mean for Georgia.
About the meaning of “Common airspace” spoke Juan Echanove, Transport attaché of the EC delegation to Georgia.
Head of international relations service of United Transport Administration, Tamar Khitarishvili, paid attention to those technical requirements, which the country has to satisfy for creating possibility for Georgia to be integrated in wider common European space.
She mentioned, that Georgia has to harmonize its own legislation with European standards and inculcate EU air regulations in such fields, like air safety, security, environment, customer safety, economic regulation, competition and social issues etc.
