Ethnic minorities in Georgia
Koba Chofliani, Coordinator of Council of National Minorities at Public Defender’s Office, Gia Andguladze of the Union of Democrat Meskhi, Agit Mirzoev, Executive Director of NGO Multinational Georgia were invited for the discussion in the studio. Minority civil integration in Georgia and problems regarding this issue was the main topic of the broadcast. The program guests talked about the problems that prevent the ethnic minorities’ full participation in the society life. The guests also referred to the issue of teaching the state language in the regions populated with ethnic minorities and reviewed the concept of tolerance and civil integration and action plan approved by the State in May. The guests talked about EU standards and legislative norms concerning this point, and European culture of tolerance. Moreover the guests paid attention to EU role in Georgia in relation to the minority integration and talked about the EU-supported projects implemented in the Georgian territories populated with ethnic minorities.
