Reform of the penitentiary system

Giorgi Chkheidze, Deputy Public Defender and Tato Kelbakiani, Deputy head of Department of Punishment Executions took part in an open discussion on the topic of the program. How the reform in penitential system is  progressing – it’s main directions and the perspectives of sharing and  implanting European experience was the main topic of the program. The aim of the broadcast was to inform listeners about ongoing changes on this issue and  EU role in it. The guests, Giorgi Chkheidze and Tato Kelbakiani talked about the existing problems and challenges beginning from overfull prisons up to the deceasing the age of  under-age judgment. The  questions raised about  new directions of the common State strategy during the reform process.

Expert consideration was conducted by Irina Gabunia, Lawyer, Young Lawyer Association (GYLA).

Success story was held with Johana Barberys, representative of United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Georgia.
